Learn how to add a line item fee to charge sales tax or other fees for your event

In RegFox, you can add a line item fee to your page to charge for sales tax and other indirect fees required for your event.

Warning: A recent FTC regulation requires all registration pages clearly display the full cost of registration, including any additional fees, up front (sales tax is exempt from this regulation). As a result, using the line item fee often results in non-compliance.

To meet the new FTC regulations, we recommend including all fees in the advertised price of your registration options. You can do this by increasing the base price of your options to absorb the costs, or turning on the setting to automatically pass on all platform and credit card fees. Add a Line Item Fee to Your Page

You can add a custom line item to your pages. This fee can be set as either a fixed dollar amount or a percentage of the order total.

Pro Tip: When using a percentage fee, the fee will be calculated based on the running total up to where the line item field appears on the page. If you add a flat dollar fee, RegFox will apply this fee once per registrant in the order.

  • From the Pages screen, click the pencil icon on the page you want to edit

  • Hover over your page, and click the green + icon where you want to add the field

  • Add the Line Item field

  • Customize the Label as desired

  • Set the fee for your line item. The line item can be either a dollar amount or percentage, and you can customize the fee amount as needed

  • Click Add Another if you want to add another fee to the line item

  • Click Advanced Settings if you would like to further customize the field

    • If you're using a percentage line item, select specific fields to apply the line item to if desired

    • Toggle on Enable Tax-Deductible Values to enter a tax-deductible value for this fee.

  • Click Done

  • Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page


Automatically Pass on All Fees to Your Registrants
