With RegFox, you can give registrants the option to make a donation during the event registration process. This feature makes it easy to raise additional funds for a charitable cause while registrants sign up for your event.

Example Use Cases

  • Raise money for a local cause or charity in conjunction for your event

  • Raise additional money for your fundraiser event in addition to the registration price

  • Host a free event with an optional donation

Jump To...

Customize Your Donation Field

  • From the Pages screen, click the pencil icon on the page you want to edit

  • Hover over your page, and click the green + icon where you want to add the field

  • Add the Donations field

Note: If your page includes a Coupon Code field, make sure to place the Donation field below the Coupon Code field. If the Donations field is above the Coupon Code, your discount codes may apply to the donation itself.

  • Customize the Label as desired

  • Toggle the Required field to Yes or No. If you want the Donations field to be optional, make sure to turn this toggle to No.

  • Select to display your donation field as Suggested Amounts or Donor Decides.

    • When Suggested Amounts is suggested, you can add pre-defined donation options that registrants can choose from. Registrants can also add another donation amount they would prefer. You can choose to display your pre-defined donation options as radios or buttons

    • When Donor Decides is suggested, registrants will see an open field, and can enter their desired gift amount

  • Toggle the Ask Donors to Cover the Processing Fee button to Yes to ask your registrants to add an additional contribution to cover your processing fees

    • If enabled, add your fee

    • Customize the fee label and tooltip text as desired

    • Toggle the Require Fee to Yes to require all registrants to contribute this additional amount

    • Toggle Enabled Fee by Default to make the fee optional, but automatically include this fee in the donation total unless the registrant chooses to opt out

  • Click Done

  • Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Pro Tip: If you're using the setting to pass on fees to buyers, we recommend turning off the option to ask donors to cover processing fees, as you are already passing on the donation fees to the buyer.

FAQs

Can I set up recurring donations on RegFox?

No, registrants cannot set up a recurring donation on a RegFox page. If you'd like to offer recurring donations, our sister product, GivingFuel, is designed specifically for fundraising and includes the option for donors to set up recurring donations. Click here to learn more about GivingFuel.

Can I set up my registration option funds to go to one bank account, and my registrant's donations to go to another bank account?

No. All money that is collected on a single page is transferred to the same bank account. If you have one page with both registration options and a donation field, all funds will go to the same bank account. If you want all Donations to go to a separate bank account, we recommend setting up a new RegFox page, and adding a different payment processor under a different bank account to this page.

Are donations collected through my RegFox page(s) automatically recorded as tax deductible?

Yes, donations given through the Donations field are automatically set as tax deductible. There is no way to adjust this setting for the Donations field.

Does RegFox create a year End Statement for the donations I collect through RegFox?

Yes, RegFox has a feature to automatically generate year-end statements for donations given through RegFox. Click here to learn how to use this feature.
