Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) via Text Message (SMS)

Two factor authentication keeps your account secure. Add an extra layer of security to your account with a one-time verification code sent to your phone by text message

Written by Maddy

Keeping your RegFox account secure is a top priority. Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of protection by requiring not just your password, but also a unique verification code to log in. With 2FA via text message (SMS), we text a 6-digit code to your phone each time you log in.

Pro Tip: RegFox offers two ways to set up two-factor authentication (2FA): an authenticator app or a verification code sent to your phone by text message.

We recommend using an authenticator app, as this method is generally regarded as the most secure way to protect your account. Text message 2FA is a convenient alternative if you prefer not to use an authenticator app.

Log In With Two-Factor Authentication via Text Message

Once text message 2FA is on, you'll be prompted for a code each time you log in.

  • Enter your email address and password

  • We text a 6-digit code to your phone automatically

  • Enter the code and log in

Pro Tip: You can turn on both Via Text Message and Via Authentication App. When both are on, you'll choose Text Message or Authenticator App each time you log in. This gives you a backup if your phone can't receive texts.

Note: Text Message Codes expire after 10 minutes. After 5 incorrect entries, you'll need to request a new code.
