Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) via Authenticator App

Enhance security with two factor (2FA) authentication and protect your account with a one-time code from an authenticator app

Written by Maddy

Keeping your RegFox account secure is a top priority. Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of protection by requiring not just your password, but also a unique verification code to log in. When 2FA is enabled, this code is generated by an authenticator app, helping to ensure that only you can access your account, even if your password is compromised.

Pro Tip: RegFox offers two ways to set up two-factor authentication (2FA): an authenticator app or a verification code sent to your phone by text message.

We recommend using an authenticator app, as this method is generally regarded as the most secure way to protect your account. Text message 2FA is a convenient alternative if you prefer not to use an authenticator app.

Warning: For security reasons, we cannot reset your Two-Factor Authentication if you lose your recovery codes. If you no longer have access to your authenticator app and recovery codes, you will need to create a new user account with a different email address.

  • Select My Profile from the dropdown list

  • Under Two-Factor Authentication, toggle Via Authentication App on

  • Enter your current password

  • Click Next

    • If you are using 1Password or a similar password keeper tool, you will scan the QR code provided and enter the unique code and click the Enable button

    • Download an application on your phone to get two-factor authentication codes when prompted upon logging in. We recommend using an app such as Authy, 1Password or LastPass Authenticator. These applications support secure backup of your authentication codes in the cloud and can be restored if you lose access to your device.

  • Click Enable

Log In With Two-Factor Authentication via Authenticator App

Once text message 2FA is on, you'll be prompted for a code each time you log in.

  • Enter your email address and password

  • Open your Authenticator app

  • Enter the code

  • Click Authenticate to log in

Pro Tip: You can turn on both Via Text Message and Via Authentication App. When both are on, you'll choose Text Message or Authenticator App each time you log in. This gives you a backup.
