Create and Sell Vouchers

Learn how to create and sell single-use vouchers, view voucher details, and understand the registrant redemption experience

Written by Maddy

Vouchers allow registrants to purchase credit that another registrant can apply toward their registration. Each voucher can be redeemed only once.

Note: By default, a voucher purchased on a registration page can only be redeemed on that same page. To make it valid across all pages, you must manually convert it to a global voucher.

  • After submitting the order, the buyer will receive a confirmation email showing their voucher code and the email used to purchase the voucher

  • The voucher recipient will receive an email containing their voucher code and a link to register for the event

FAQs

Can a voucher be applied to any registration option?

Yes. By default, a voucher can be applied toward any registration option.

Note: By default, a voucher can only be applied to one registration. Any unused balance cannot be automatically carried over to another registrant, so we recommend redeeming the full voucher amount at once.

Are vouchers the same as gift cards?

No. A voucher can only be applied to a single registration. Any remaining balance after the order is completed will not carry over and cannot be used on a future registrant.

What happens if I refund a purchase made with a voucher?

You can issue a full or partial refund to the person who purchased the voucher. This does not automatically affect the order of the registrant who redeemed it. If you want to cancel both orders, cancel them separately.

Can a voucher be used on any page?

By default, a voucher can only be redeemed on the page where it was originally purchased. However, you can manually edit a voucher to make it a global voucher if needed.

What if the voucher recipient doesn't receive the email (or accidentally deletes it)?

The voucher is still valid even if the email wasn't received. You can look up the voucher code from the original order, or find a record of all vouchers sold in your Coupons section.

What happens if the recipient doesn’t use the voucher’s full value?

Vouchers are single-use codes and do not track remaining balances, so they work best when applied to an order that uses the full value.

To let a recipient use the remaining value on a second order, manually update the coupon’s value to the remaining balance and increase its usage limit to 2. For example, if the recipient uses $70 of a $100 voucher, change the coupon’s value to $30 before allowing a second use. Otherwise, the recipient could receive the full $100 discount again.

Can I resend a voucher email?

There's currently no way to resend the original voucher email. Instead, copy the voucher code and send it to the registrant directly.

What’s the difference between a page voucher and a global voucher?

A page voucher is created when someone purchases a voucher from a live registration page. By default, the voucher can only be used on that specific page.

A global voucher is created when you cancel a registration and issue the refund as a coupon code, or when you manually convert a page voucher into a global coupon. These can be used across your all registration pages in your account.
