Capture Leads With a Subscriber Popup and Follow Up Automatically With Dynamic Emails

Add an email sign-up pop-up to your registration page, offer a discount code, and automatically send follow-up emails to visitors who subscribe

Written by Maddy

Not every visitor is ready to register the first time they land on your page. The Subscriber Pop-up gives those visitors a reason to stay connected by inviting them to share their email address, often in exchange for a discount code. Instead of leaving with nothing, they become a lead you can follow up with automatically. When you pair the Subscriber Pop-up with a Dynamic Email, RegFox sends your follow-up message for you, so you can turn interested visitors into registrants without having to watch for new sign-ups.

In this article, we'll cover how to turn on and customize your Subscriber Pop-up, how to set up a Dynamic Email that follows up with new subscribers, and how to manage your leads and what visitors see along the way.

Warning: The Subscriber Pop-up only collects email addresses. It does not send any emails on its own. To follow up with new subscribers or deliver a discount by email, you must also create a Dynamic Email using the After Subscribe trigger. Click here to learn how.

Dynamic Email Pricing

The Subscriber Pop-up is free to use. Dynamic Emails sent to subscribers automatically are billed $0.02 per email recipient and require a card on file to use. This feature will be billed every 30 days for any emails you sent out during that billing period.

Turn On and Customize a Subscriber Pop-up

By turning on a subscriber pop-up, any visitor who goes to your page will see a pop-up encouraging them to subscribe to your event 5 seconds after they open the page.

  • From the Pages screen, click the page you want to edit

  • Hover your mouse over the Promote tab in the top menu bar

  • Select Subscriber Pop-up from the dropdown

  • Click the Turn on subscription pop-up on my event page toggle

  • In the Email Subscribe section, customize the pop-up content that will appear

  • Customize the Button Label as desired

  • Customize the Skip Link Text as desired

  • Customize the Disclaimer Text as desired

Pro Tip: Keep your headline short and lead with the offer. A clear benefit like "Get 10% off your registration" tends to get more sign-ups than a general "Join our list."

  • In the Success Message section, customize the content that will appear after visitors subscribe

  • Customize the Button Label that will appear after visitors subscribe

  • Customize the Pop-up Size. You can have a standard, large, fullscreen, or custom pop-up size

  • Customize the Background Color and Button Color by selecting a color or entering a hex code. Use the opacity slider to adjust the color’s transparency

  • Under Advanced, enter custom CSS, if desired

  • Click Save Popup

  • Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Pro Tip: You can use the preview options to review how your pop-up and success message appears to your visitors.

Create a Dynamic Email for New Subscribers

Once your pop-up is live, the next step is setting up the email that follows up with new subscribers. When you set up this email, RegFox will automatically send your subscribers an email with the content you add.

Pro Tip: When creating a Dynamic Email to subscribers, we recommend sending your first follow-up email a few minutes after someone subscribes, while your event is still top of mind.

Many event organizers choose to offer a discount or promotion to encourage subscribers to register.

Manage Your Leads

Once someone subscribes to your event, RegFox saves the email as a Lead in your RegFox account. You can view all Leads under the Contacts tab.

Pro Tip: RegFox creates customer leads in these situations:

  • Subscribed: When someone subscribes through the Subscriber Pop-up, RegFox saves their email address as a contact

  • Abandoned lead: When someone enters their billing email but does not complete the order, RegFox saves their email address as a lead

  • Imported Contacts: When a user imports contacts, they can choose to import their contacts as leads

  • To view all of the leads, click the Contacts tab from the main menu bar on your account

  • Under the Filters tab on the left-hand side, click Contact Type

  • Select Leads

  • Edit, view, or delete these leads as desired

Pro Tip: Subscriber leads will only save the entered email, not any of the other details about the contact. The Contact will not display the page where the lead subscribed.

Registrant Experience

  • When a visitor lands on your page, the pop-up appears after 5 seconds

  • The visitor can enter their email address and submit, or close the pop-up to continue browsing

  • If the visitor enters their email and joins the list, they will see your Success Message

  • If you set up a Dynamic Email, the visitor receives your email based on the timing you selected

FAQs

Can I send email blasts or drip campaigns to my subscribers?

The After Subscribe trigger is currently only available for Dynamic Emails. If you want to send an Email Blast or Drip Campaigns to your subscribers, we recommend downloading a list of your leads, and sending an email to a manually imported list of emails.
