Set Up Conversion Tracking for Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook, Tiktok, and X

Connect GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, Meta (Facebook) Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or X Pixel to your RegFox page to track page views, registrations, and ad conversions

Written by Maddy

Conversion tracking shows you how registrants find and interact with your RegFox page, from their first visit to their completed purchase. RegFox supports Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, Facebook (Meta), TikTok, LinkedIn, and X. When you turn on a platform, RegFox adds the tracking tags to your page for you, so no coding is needed.

This article covers how to turn on conversion tracking for your page and where to find the ID for each platform.

Set up Conversion Tracking

  • From the Pages screen, click the pencil icon under the page you want to edit

  • Go to the Settings tab from the top menu bar

  • Select Tracking

  • Turn on the Conversion Tracking platform you would like to use

  • Enter your Tracking ID and any other required fields for that platform. Click here to learn where to find each ID

  • Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Warning: Only track each platform in one place. If you turn on a platform here and also add that same platform's tag in your own Google Tag Manager container, events can be sent twice and your conversions will be overcounted. For example, don't turn on the Facebook Pixel here if your GTM container already includes a Meta Pixel tag.

Note: Connecting Google Analytics directly only tracks page views. To track purchases in GA4, connect Google Tag Manager instead and turn on Use New GA4 Data Format. Don't connect both Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager on the same page, or page visits may be counted twice. Click here to learn how to set up purchase tracking in GTM.

Find Your Tracking IDs

Platform

What to Enter

Where to Fin It

Google Analytics (GA4)

Tracking ID (formatted like G-XXXXXXXXXX) and Primary Domain

Google Tag Manager

Container ID (formatted like GTM-XXXXXX)

Google Ads

Conversion ID and Conversion Label (both required)

Facebook (Meta)

Pixel ID and Access Token

TikTok

Pixel ID and Access Token

LinkedIn

Insight Tag ID and Conversion IDs

X (Twitter)

Pro Tip: For Facebook and TikTok, we recommend adding an access token. RegFox will then send each event from our server as well as the registrant's browser, so events still reach the platform when ad blockers stop the browser event.

Note: Tracking is set up on each page. If you want to track multiple pages, repeat these steps for each page.

FAQs

Can I use other tracking platforms within your software?

Yes. Platforms that aren't listed in your Tracking settings can be set up through Google Tag Manager

Where can I learn more about conversion tracking?

Our system is plug & play for conversion tracking software. You can reference the Google help center, the Facebook help center, the Google Ads help center, or the ecommerce help center for more information.

What is the confirmation URL?

Each confirmation URL is unique because it contains the registrant ID number. It cannot be restructured, but it is not necessary for tracking conversions with the available setup.

Here is a tool for sharing a URL and finding the Facebook link preview is not working properly.

My Facebook Meta Pixel is showing, Missing Purchase User Data Parameters, Missing AddToCart user data parameters, and events not matching. What does this mean?

If your event is free or the check out is $0, the Purchase and Add To Cart triggers are not activated because a financial transaction must take place.

If someone visits my RegFox page but doesn’t complete a purchase, can I still target them with ads later?

Yes! Here’s how it works:

  • Tracking Activity: The pixel records actions such as PageView, InitiateCheckout, and AddToCart, even without a purchase.

  • Remarketing Campaigns: You can use the data collected by the META Pixel run ads targeting those who didn’t complete checkout.

  • Custom Audiences: In Meta Ads, you can build audiences based on behavior (like visiting your page but not buying) to re-engage them later.

  • UTM Tags and Advanced Matching

    • Use UTM tags in your ad links to track where traffic came from

    • Enable Advanced Matching in Pixel settings for better attribution

What can I expect for Google Analytics?

You can generally expect a few things:

  • If an attendee visited your page

  • If an attendee made it to the confirmation page and the amount associated with the confirmation

  • Where the conversion/event came from (a page hit, or a conversion (purchase and/or submission)

Does RegFox send hashed customer data (like email or phone) to Meta for Event Match Quality?

Yes. Once an access token is added to your tracking setup, RegFox sends hashed customer data (such as email or phone) to Meta to improve Event Match Quality, provided you have proper consent to collect and share that data.

Can I verify my own domain in Meta Business Manager and Google?

Yes. To verify your own domain, you'll first need to set up a custom domain. This allows your registration pages to be hosted on a subdomain of your website instead of a regfox.com URL. Once your custom domain is configured, you can verify it in Meta Business Manager and Google.

Which events does RegFox send to each platform?

Each platform receives a different set of events, such as page views, add to carts, checkout starts, and purchases. To see the full list of events, when each one fires, and the data included, click here.

Why am I receiving duplicate events?

Duplicate events usually occur when the same platform is tracked through both your RegFox page’s Tracking settings and your Google Tag Manager (GTM) container. For example, if you enable the Facebook Pixel in RegFox and also add a Meta Pixel tag to your GTM container, page views and purchases may be sent to Meta twice.

If you’re seeing duplicate events, review your RegFox Tracking settings and GTM tags to make sure each platform is set up in only one place.

Note: If you’ve added a Meta or TikTok access token, you may see both a browser event and a server event for the same action. This is expected. Both share the same event ID, which allows the platform to recognize them as a single event and count it only once.

Can I connect both Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager?

We don't recommend using both Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. Connecting both on the same page can count page visits twice. If you want to track purchases in GA4, connect Google Tag Manager only and turn on Use New GA4 Data Format. Then set up your GA4 tags inside GTM. Click here to learn how to set this up.
